This truly is amazing such a rare gem this tile company is what is known as D&M tile Co. It is very rare for D&M to do tile such tilesas these. These tiles are actually more of a San Jose tile company style. In the 30+ years that we have been salvaging tile this is the first time we have ever come across tile such as this. Such an amazing subject matter really capturing the early California Spanish style. These tiles were salvaged out of the Beverly Hills area out of an original Spanish home. They we’re located in the main courtyard lining the walls D & M is known for their early California colors such as the blues orange and yellow’s that were captured in rich glazes. These types of tile were often found in Spanish style homes and often in official buildings such as court houses , City Hall’s , bus and train depot’s and when lucky enough in the early 1920s Spanish style homes. The tiles are in overall good condition. This is a two tile scene measuring in at a grand 8″ x 16″ wide each tile 8 x 8. We have bordered this tile in an origina rich orange D&M border. These tiles do not need to be used with the border but really do you complement it. Some of the border tiles very in texture some with a deeper Matt glaze others with a higher gloss and a few fleabites to the edges but nothing major. These tiles would be perfect for the avid collector or for the person who is simply trying to bring their original early California home back to the true state.
