The Sengoku generals burned incense inside of their helmets and put a flower on their chests’ before going to battle. They were proud of pursuing grace even on the battlefield and carried unbreakable spirits. Kabuto helmet explicitly represents the spirit of the samurai. The design of the Kabuto helmet and its accompanying accessories were arranged by individual preferences. The Kabuto helmet is decorated with antlers/horns (Kuwagata) and a front crest (Maedate) such as an arranged sword, a dragon statue, Myo-oh sculpture, or a statue of Bodhisattva (Bosatsu).
