The tool is in good original condition with the better part of the paper label and plenty of paint. The paint color is black as opposed to the later trade mark maroon so I assume it is an early example. The original leather remains and is overall good but the strap has some dry cracks and should be oiled to prevent any further damage. The wood handle is also good and crack free but it is loose in the eye and will need to be addressed for use. A great old tool for show or go. A top quality tool by a known maker ready to be restored for use. It is only logical right?
