For sale is this awesome Egyptian pharaoh head. Pieces like this were often found in tombs attached to a larger statue representing the respective pharaoh. This one is made of wood and is painted with a thick paint. The paint is very chipped (as seen in photos). It has not been restored. It is pretty large (around 5 inches tall). There is a photo posted of it next to a ruler. The base is unpainted. It looks to have been sawn off a while back. This would be a perfect display piece! I bought this from a private collection. It is a beautiful piece. It has not been authenticated, but I sent some photos into a professional. He told me that the hair style is unlike typical ancient pieces, and the Menes head covering is absent, the depiction of the uraeus is different than what is typically expected as well as the shape of the eyes and the protruding lips. The colors of the paint may also be slightly off. This makes me think that it is likely a modern reproduction of an original ancient piece. It was most likely made for the tourist market in modern times. Again, this is a replica piece and is not a real ancient artifact. It is a very quality piece though!! It is an excellent piece that would look great on display! Dont pass it up! Be sure to check over the details and look at all of the photos so you will know exactly what youll get!
