This listing is an. Very Scarce Late 19th century Victor’s Special Batwing Style Noseguard. This batwing has had its cheek extending areas carved down by its original owner, as can be seen on its underside. This rare noseguard features Victor Special, and Victor Sporting Goods markings on its lower front. Why the original wearer of this batwing decided to shave down its sides will remain a mystery, but perhaps he found the wider cheek protection embarrassing, or was mocked by his teammates or opponents; this is all speculation of course.
