Vintage Mexican Palomas Birds Amethyst Sterling Silver Necklace. Made in the early 80’s in Mexico City. Clearly inspired by Matilde Poulat’s folklore style. Was made by a Mexico City Silversmith who signed his works “MR-39″. Sadly his identity remains elusive despite thorough research but his creations are magnificent and some of the best I’ve seen. All we know is that he hails from Mexico City and his last name starts with an “R”. His stunning pieces fetch high prices. The centerpiece was made in a repousse design and bedazzled with gorgeous turquoise and 4 rough amethyst stones. The clasp is also adorned with 4 square amethysts and 2 turquoise beads. The necklace beautifully sits on the collar and feels absolutely magical to wear it, I promise. Metal: 925 Silver, marked “MR-39″. Wearable length: 19 3/4 Inches. Size of center Pendant with the doves, incl the dangling bits: 3 3/4″ Inches wide and 3 7/8″ Inches long. Size of Stone (between the 2 doves) : 9.75mm high x 9.75mm wide. In excellent vintage condition. There is patina to the metal due to age. There are no missing stones or damages of any kind. Clasp opens and closes fine. Photos taken in natural light and accurately represent the item. Color may vary depending on monitor. Comes in a pretty gift box. This is a genuine. They may not be 100% perfect, which is what adds to their charm. I describe all vintage and antique items to the best of my knowledge. They may have small flaws, which I will mention if not obvious in the photos. The photos were taken with a closeup macro lens and the item may appear larger than real-life.
